Japan Paths

Japan paths leading beyond Tokyo & Kyoto. Itineraries, Ghibli vibes & hidden gems. Nature, food & anime lover traveling Japan with family.

About

I’m an enthusiastic traveller who basically loves everything about Japan. This goes for me and my family as we always travel together. Growing up with all kinds of manga and anime I always felt that Japanese culture is a natural extension of my own culture which is German😊 I live in Germany, but I‘m constantly making plans how to live in Japan.

Japan has so much to offer and if you travel Japan, there is much more than Tokyo & Kyoto. Don’t get me wrong, Tokyo is one of my favorite cities in the world (and I have seen many capital cities), but still, if you want to really experience the Japanese culture or love nature as I do, then you have to leave the big cities.

I planned my first Japan itinerary almost 10 years ago in 2016. Since then I’m constantly learning about new places, routes and activities in Japan. Also I’m reading a lot of books or manga from and about Japan, including books about its history and traditions. But of course the best and most exciting part is traveling there and experiencing it. I’m deeply fascinated with Shinto, which is why I often delve into temples and shrines in detail on my blog.

My motivation for this blog

One of the inspirations behind writing the blog is that, in Japan, I frequently felt as though I’d stepped into a Ghibli film. I wish to share this feeling, and ideally help you to plan a nice itinerary for yourself and experience hidden gems that you discovered in this blog. Another goal is to share insights about traditions as it is important to me that those are respected when you travel Japan.

My expectations & my recommendation to travel Japan

When I first went to Japan my expectations were so extremely high that I was afraid that I will be disappointed — but the expectations were just exceeded. For everyone I know who traveled there, it was the same. So, do your research and book your flights and accommodations for Japan as soon as you can😊
